This investigational cell therapy is a combination of chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cells and chimeric antigen receptor natural killer (CAR-NK) cells developed by The Second Hospital of Shandong University. The therapy is designed to treat recurrent, refractory, or unresectable solid tumors, including pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and glioma. By combining CAR-T and CAR-NK cells, the treatment aims to leverage the potent, long-term effector functions of T cells alongside the rapid response and potentially lower toxicity profile of NK cells. Research from the developing institution indicates that these cells are engineered to target antigens commonly expressed in solid tumors, such as mesothelin (MSLN) and B7-H3 (CD276), to overcome the immunosuppressive microenvironment and improve therapeutic efficacy in non-hematologic malignancies.
