Overview
Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre (MGRC) is developing an autologous CAR-T cell therapy platform for the treatment of solid and liquid tumors in Southeast Asia. The therapy involves the genetic engineering of a patient's own T-cells to express chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) designed to recognize and eliminate cancer cells by targeting specific surface or intracellular proteins. MGRC secured exclusive licensing rights from ICARTAB Biomedical for CAR-T therapies targeting solid cancers, including liver, pancreatic, stomach, mesothelioma, esophageal, and brain cancers. The company also plans to address liquid cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma. Currently, the treatment is offered on a compassionate use basis in countries including Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, positioned as a more affordable alternative to Western CAR-T products.
