Overview

This autologous CAR-T cell therapy is developed by Beijing 302 Hospital in collaboration with Tsinghua University for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. The therapy involves patient-derived T cells that are engineered using lentiviral vectors to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) containing a broadly neutralizing HIV-1 single-chain variable fragment (scFv) antibody. This third-generation CAR-T design is intended to specifically target and eliminate HIV-1 infected cells expressing viral envelope proteins. The primary goal of the therapy is to reduce the latent HIV-1 reservoir in patients who have achieved viral suppression through antiretroviral therapy (ART), potentially moving toward a functional cure. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase I clinical trial (NCT04863066) for safety and preliminary efficacy.
