Overview

CAR-T cells targeting mesothelin or claudin 18.2 refers to an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy program developed by Wuxi People's Hospital. The program evaluates T cells engineered to target either mesothelin (MSLN), a cell surface glycoprotein frequently overexpressed in mesothelioma, pancreatic, and ovarian cancers, or claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2), a tight junction protein highly specific to the gastric mucosa and often expressed in gastric and pancreatic adenocarcinomas. These cell therapies are designed to recognize and eliminate tumor cells expressing these specific antigens. The program is currently being investigated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (ChiCTR2000040791) for patients with advanced solid tumors who have progressed after standard second-line therapies.
