Overview

CAR-T-Xuzhou Medical University-multiple myeloma refers to an investigational chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by Xuzhou Medical University for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. This therapy is being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT05013489) as part of a sequential treatment strategy. In this protocol, patients first receive CAR-T cell therapy to induce a deep response or complete remission (CR). Patients who achieve CR then undergo allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). The goal of this combination approach is to leverage the rapid anti-tumor activity of CAR-T cells followed by the long-term immunological graft-versus-myeloma effect of allo-HSCT to prevent relapse in high-risk patients. The CAR-T cells are typically engineered to target the B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), which is highly expressed on malignant plasma cells.
