CAR-T19 refers to a type of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy engineered to target the CD19 antigen, which is highly expressed on B-cell malignancies. The mechanism involves collecting a patient’s own T cells, genetically modifying them in the laboratory to express a receptor that recognizes CD19, and then infusing these modified cells back into the patient. Once infused, these engineered T cells seek out and destroy cancer cells expressing CD19. This approach has shown significant efficacy in treating certain B-cell leukemias and lymphomas[4][7].
