Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Caranbax-UTI is an oral branded generic combination product marketed by Medicox Lifescience for the management and prophylaxis of urinary tract infections (UTIs). The formulation typically consists of Cranberry extract, D-Mannose, and Potassium Magnesium Citrate. D-Mannose and Cranberry-derived proanthocyanidins work synergistically to prevent the adhesion of pathogenic bacteria, particularly *Escherichia coli*, to the uroepithelial cells of the bladder wall, thereby facilitating their clearance through urination. Potassium Magnesium Citrate serves as a systemic and urinary alkalizer, increasing the pH of the urine to alleviate the burning sensation (dysuria) and discomfort associated with UTIs while creating an environment less favorable for bacterial proliferation.
