carbazochrome sodium sulfonate

Carbazochrome sodium sulfonate is a synthetic hemostatic agent and capillary stabilizer derived from carbazochrome. It is used primarily to treat bleeding caused by increased capillary permeability or reduced resistance of capillaries. The drug works by increasing the resistance of capillaries to injury and reducing their permeability. It promotes retraction at the broken ends of capillaries to stop bleeding and stabilizes acidic mucopolysaccharides in vascular tissues. This results in shortened bleeding time and enhanced thrombin activity without affecting hematopoiesis or causing hemolysis. Its main clinical indications include hemorrhage from the urinary system, upper digestive tract, respiratory tract, gynecological diseases as well as trauma and surgical bleeding[1][2][3][4][5]. The compound is highly water-soluble with rapid onset and long duration of action.
