Overview
Siccafluid is an ophthalmic gel containing the active ingredient carbomer 974P, a synthetic high-molecular-weight polymer used as a lubricant and tear substitute. It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye syndrome (keratoconjunctivitis sicca), providing relief from symptoms such as soreness, burning, irritation, or dryness caused by insufficient tear production. Carbomer 974P forms a transparent, lubricating and moisturizing film on the ocular surface that mimics natural tears and helps maintain hydration by absorbing water and increasing viscosity. This physical barrier temporarily compensates for tear deficiency but does not address underlying disease mechanisms[1][3][5].
