Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Carbon-11 CFT (also known as [¹¹C]β-CFT or ¹¹C-β-CFT) is a radiolabeled positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent used in nuclear medicine and neuroscience research. It is a small-molecule radiotracer consisting of the cocaine analog β-CFT (WIN 35,428) labeled with the positron-emitting radioisotope carbon-11. Carbon-11 CFT selectively binds to the presynaptic dopamine transporter (DAT) in the brain, allowing for the visualization and quantification of DAT availability. It is primarily utilized in clinical research to evaluate dopaminergic deficits in patients with neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, multiple system atrophy, progressive supranuclear palsy, and behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia with parkinsonism. There is no single commercial developer or approved brand name for this research compound.
