Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Carbon-14-labeled carboplatin is a radiolabeled version of carboplatin used primarily for research purposes to study the pharmacokinetics, metabolism, and distribution of carboplatin in the body. Carboplatin is an organoplatinum antineoplastic alkylating agent that works by cross-linking DNA, preventing DNA strands from separating for synthesis or transcription, and inducing mutations. It has a similar mechanism of action to cisplatin but with a different toxicity profile, particularly causing less nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, and neurotoxicity but more myelosuppression.
