This is a combination of two lymphatic tracers—carbon nanoparticle suspension injection (CNSI) and indocyanine green (ICG)—used primarily to enhance intraoperative visualization of lymph nodes during oncological surgeries, especially radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer. CNSI consists of stable carbon nanoparticles (~150 nm diameter) that are selectively taken up by lymphatic vessels and accumulate in lymph nodes, staining them black for easier identification. Indocyanine green is a fluorescent dye that enables real-time imaging under near-infrared light. The combination leverages the strong visual contrast from CNSI and the fluorescence properties of ICG to improve detection rates and accuracy in identifying both total and metastatic lymph nodes during surgery. Both agents have demonstrated high safety profiles with no significant increase in complications or operative time[4][5]. Mechanistically, they act as physical tracers rather than pharmacologically active drugs.
