Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Folivane F is a prescription oral hematinic combination product developed and marketed by Trigen Laboratory. It is formulated as a capsule containing 125 mg of elemental iron (as carbonyl iron), 1 mg of folic acid, and 25 mcg of vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin). The product is indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia and folate deficiency anemia. Carbonyl iron is utilized for its high elemental iron content and gradual absorption profile, which is intended to reduce gastrointestinal side effects compared to traditional ferrous salts. Folic acid and vitamin B12 are included to support red blood cell production and address concomitant nutritional deficiencies often observed in anemic patients.
