Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of carboplatin, an organoplatinum antineoplastic alkylating agent, and celecoxib, a selective COX-2 inhibitor. Carboplatin acts as a DNA cross-linking agent that interferes with DNA replication, while celecoxib reduces inflammation by inhibiting COX-2 enzyme. However, research indicates that celecoxib may antagonize the cytotoxic effects of carboplatin by reducing intracellular carboplatin accumulation and inhibiting carboplatin-induced apoptosis.
