This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of three drugs—carboplatin, celecoxib, and gemcitabine. Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that induces DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis by incorporating into DNA during replication, leading to cell death. Celecoxib is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor with anti-inflammatory properties; it may also have antitumor effects by inhibiting angiogenesis and promoting apoptosis in tumor cells. This combination has been investigated primarily for the treatment of advanced cancers such as non-small cell lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and urothelial carcinoma[1][4][5]. The rationale for combining these agents includes potential synergistic cytotoxicity against tumor cells and modulation of the tumor microenvironment to enhance immune response[7].
