Overview

Carboplatin + etoposide + tislelizumab is a combination regimen used primarily for the treatment of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). Carboplatin and etoposide are chemotherapeutic agents that work by damaging DNA and inhibiting cell division, leading to cancer cell death. Tislelizumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor on immune cells, blocking its interaction with PD-L1 and PD-L2 ligands. This blockade releases the inhibition on T-cell activity, enhancing the immune system's ability to recognize and attack tumor cells. The combination has demonstrated improved overall survival and progression-free survival compared to chemotherapy alone in phase 3 clinical trials for ES-SCLC[1][3][4].
