Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy consisting of carboplatin, marimastat, and paclitaxel. Carboplatin and paclitaxel are chemotherapy drugs that destroy quickly dividing cells such as cancer cells. Marimastat is an orally bioavailable broad spectrum matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor that prevents the degradation of the basement membrane by these proteases, thereby inhibiting tumor angiogenesis and metastasis. The combination has been studied in phase I clinical trials for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
