This is a combination regimen consisting of three drugs: - **Carboplatin** (a platinum-based chemotherapy agent that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells) - **Paclitaxel** (a taxane-class chemotherapy that stabilizes microtubules and inhibits cell division) - **Motesanib** (an investigational small-molecule inhibitor targeting vascular endothelial growth factor receptors 1, 2, and 3 [VEGFR1/2/3], platelet-derived growth factor receptor [PDGFR], and stem cell factor receptor [c-Kit]). The combination was studied primarily as first-line therapy for advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), especially nonsquamous subtypes. Motesanib was added to the standard carboplatin/paclitaxel doublet to enhance antiangiogenic effects. However, clinical trials found that adding motesanib increased toxicity without significant improvement in progression-free or overall survival compared to chemotherapy alone[1][2][3][4]. The regimen is not approved for any indication.
