Overview

This drug is a combination therapy consisting of three agents used primarily for the treatment of advanced squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). - **Carboplatin** is a platinum-based chemotherapy agent that causes DNA crosslinking and damage, leading to apoptosis in cancer cells. - **Nab-paclitaxel** (nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel) is a formulation of paclitaxel bound to albumin nanoparticles, which stabilizes microtubules and inhibits cell division. - **Serplulimab** is an anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody immune checkpoint inhibitor that blocks the PD-1 receptor on T cells, preventing its interaction with PD-L1/PD-L2 ligands. This blockade enhances T-cell mediated immune response against tumor cells. Serplulimab has higher affinity and unique binding properties compared to other PD-1 inhibitors, inducing robust PD-1 receptor endocytosis and sustained T-cell activation. The combination leverages chemotherapy's cytotoxic effects with immunotherapy's enhancement of anti-tumor immunity. Clinical trials have demonstrated improved survival outcomes in advanced squamous NSCLC patients when serplulimab is added to carboplatin plus nab-paclitaxel chemotherapy, with manageable safety profiles[2][3][4]. However, cost-effectiveness analyses suggest this regimen may not be economical under current thresholds in some healthcare systems[1].
