This entry refers to two related multi-drug regimens used primarily in oncology. The first regimen, carboplatin plus nab-paclitaxel, is commonly known as "nab-PC" and is indicated for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and gynecological cancers such as ovarian, endometrial, and cervical cancer[2][8]. Nab-paclitaxel (Abraxane) is a nanoparticle albumin-bound formulation of paclitaxel that disrupts microtubule function, inhibiting cell division[5][8]. Carboplatin is a platinum-based alkylating agent that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells[7][8]. The second regimen combines either standard paclitaxel or nab-paclitaxel with carboplatin and the immune checkpoint inhibitor pembrolizumab (Keytruda), which blocks PD-1 on T cells to enhance anti-tumor immunity. This combination has been approved for use in several cancers including NSCLC and triple-negative breast cancer[6][7]. These regimens are administered intravenously in cycles.
