Overview

This is a combination regimen consisting of three agents: - **Carboplatin** is a platinum-based chemotherapy drug that causes DNA crosslinking and inhibits DNA synthesis and function, leading to cell death. - **Paclitaxel** is a taxane-class chemotherapeutic that stabilizes microtubules and prevents their depolymerization, thereby inhibiting cell division. - **rhAngiostatin (recombinant human angiostatin)** is an antiangiogenic protein fragment derived from plasminogen. It inhibits the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) by blocking endothelial cell proliferation and migration. The combination has been studied in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), where it was found to be feasible with a high disease control rate. The rationale for combining these agents is to attack tumor cells directly with cytotoxic chemotherapy while simultaneously inhibiting the tumor’s ability to develop new blood vessels needed for growth and metastasis[1].
