Overview

This is a combination of three drugs used in oncology. Carboplatin and paclitaxel are well-established chemotherapy agents, often combined as "PC" or "CarboTaxol," and are administered intravenously to treat various cancers by targeting rapidly dividing cells[1][5]. Tamibarotene is a synthetic retinoid, specifically an agonist for retinoic acid receptor alpha/beta, developed to overcome resistance to all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL)[7][10]. The combination of these three drugs has been investigated in clinical trials for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but results showed that adding tamibarotene did not improve outcomes compared to carboplatin/paclitaxel alone and was associated with increased toxicity[6].
