Overview

This is a combination regimen consisting of three agents: - **Carboplatin** (a platinum-based chemotherapy agent that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells), - **Paclitaxel** (a microtubule-stabilizing agent that inhibits cell division by preventing microtubule depolymerization), and - **Volociximab** (a chimeric monoclonal antibody targeting α5β1 integrin, inhibiting angiogenesis and tumor growth). The combination has been studied primarily in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) as first-line therapy. In phase Ib studies, this regimen was generally well-tolerated with preliminary evidence of efficacy, including partial responses and disease stabilization. Volociximab specifically acts by blocking the α5β1 integrin, which plays a role in tumor angiogenesis and metastasis[1][2][3][4].
