Carboplatin + trametinib is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used in oncology. Carboplatin is an organoplatinum antineoplastic alkylating agent that exerts its effect by forming DNA crosslinks, thereby inhibiting DNA synthesis and function, leading to cell death. It is primarily used in the treatment of advanced ovarian carcinoma and other cancers[1]. Trametinib is an orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor that selectively targets mitogen-activated extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1 (MEK1) and MEK2, key components of the MAPK/ERK signaling pathway. By inhibiting MEK1/2 activation and kinase activity, trametinib blocks downstream signaling involved in cellular proliferation and survival, particularly in tumors with BRAF V600 mutations[3][5][6]. The combination may be investigated or used for synergistic effects against certain cancers where both platinum-based chemotherapy and targeted inhibition of the MAPK pathway are beneficial.
