Carboplatin + vinflunine is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of carboplatin, a platinum-based alkylating agent, and vinflunine, a novel fluorinated semisynthetic vinca alkaloid. Carboplatin induces DNA crosslinking and inhibits DNA synthesis and function, leading to cell death. Vinflunine disrupts microtubule assembly by binding to tubulin, inhibiting mitosis and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. This combination has been investigated primarily as first-line therapy for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma who are ineligible for cisplatin due to renal impairment or other comorbidities. The regimen has demonstrated antitumor activity with manageable toxicity profiles in clinical trials[1][2][5].
