Overview

This entry refers to the use of either carboplatin or cisplatin, both platinum-based chemotherapy agents, alone or in combination with sintilimab, a monoclonal antibody immunotherapy. Carboplatin and cisplatin are alkylating agents that form DNA adducts, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. Carboplatin is an analog of cisplatin and is generally less nephrotoxic and neurotoxic but more myelosuppressive. Both drugs are used for a variety of solid tumors including lung cancer, ovarian cancer, sarcomas, lymphomas, and germ cell tumors[2][4][7]. Sintilimab is a fully human IgG4 monoclonal antibody targeting programmed cell death protein 1 (PD‑1), blocking its interaction with ligands PD-L1/PD-L2 to enhance T-cell mediated anti-tumor immunity[6][8]. Sintilimab has been approved in China for relapsed/refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma after at least two prior systemic therapies and is being investigated in multiple solid tumor indications as monotherapy and in combination regimens[6][8].
