Overview

This is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic formulation containing carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and cyclosporine A. Carboxymethylcellulose is a lubricating agent commonly used as an artificial tear to relieve dryness and irritation of the ocular surface. Cyclosporine A is an immunosuppressant that acts as a calcineurin inhibitor, reducing inflammation on the ocular surface by inhibiting T-cell activation. The combination is primarily used for the management of dry eye disease (DED), where CMC provides symptomatic relief through lubrication, while cyclosporine A addresses underlying inflammatory processes to improve tear production and ocular surface health[1][2]. Clinical studies have shown that this combination can improve both objective signs (such as conjunctival staining and tear break-up time) and subjective symptoms in patients with dry eye disease[1][2].
