Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Decomic Plus is an ophthalmic combination eye drop formulation containing the vasoconstrictor naphazoline hydrochloride (0.1% w/v) and the lubricant carboxymethylcellulose sodium (0.5% w/v). It is indicated for the temporary relief of eye redness, irritation, discomfort, and dryness caused by minor environmental irritants such as wind, sun, dust, smoke, pool chlorine, or eye strain. Naphazoline acts as a sympathomimetic alpha-adrenergic agonist that constricts dilated conjunctival blood vessels to rapidly clear redness, while carboxymethylcellulose sodium acts as an artificial tear substitute to lubricate and moisturize the ocular surface. Originally developed by Vivimed Labs (Klar Sehen), the product line and trademarks were acquired by Ordain Health Care (a subsidiary of Exeltis) in 2016.
