Overview
Carboxymethylcellulose sodium + glycerin is a combination ophthalmic preparation used primarily as an artificial tear or lubricant to provide temporary relief from burning, irritation, and discomfort due to dryness of the eye or exposure to wind and sun. Carboxymethylcellulose acts by interacting with human corneal epithelial cells to facilitate corneal wound healing and attenuate eye irritation in a dose-dependent manner. Glycerin serves as an additional lubricant and humectant that helps maintain moisture on the ocular surface. Together, these agents protect the eyes from further irritation and support ocular surface health[1][2][3][4][8]. The combination is widely used for symptomatic management of dry eye syndrome.
