Overview

Carcinin is a therapeutic agent developed by ITL Pharma, containing the active ingredient carcinine (beta-alanyl-histamine), a naturally occurring derivative of the dipeptide carnosine. Unlike carnosine, carcinine is resistant to degradation by the enzyme carnosinase, providing a longer half-life in the body. It acts as a potent antioxidant and anti-glycation agent, designed to protect cells from oxidative stress and the formation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). In oncology, it is utilized as an adjuvant therapy to support patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy, aiming to reduce treatment-induced toxicity and improve quality of life.
