Overview

A therapeutic cancer vaccine composed of autologous dendritic cells (DCs) that have been pulsed ex vivo with messenger RNA encoding the tumor-associated antigen carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The loaded DCs are then administered to the patient to stimulate an immune response specifically targeting tumor cells expressing CEA. This approach leverages the potent antigen-presenting capacity of DCs to induce a broad and robust anti-tumor T-cell response. The primary indication is for cancers that overexpress CEA, such as colorectal and other gastrointestinal adenocarcinomas. The mechanism of action involves presentation of CEA-derived peptides on MHC molecules by the pulsed DCs, leading to activation and proliferation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes against CEA-expressing tumor cells[1][3][8].
