Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CardiALLO is an allogeneic, culture-expanded mesenchymal stem cell therapy derived from bone marrow of a universal donor. It is being developed by BioCardia for the treatment of heart failure, specifically ischemic heart failure. The product consists of proprietary human mesenchymal stem cells delivered via a minimally invasive catheter-based system directly into the heart muscle. The mechanism of action is believed to involve paracrine signaling—secretion of stimulatory cytokines that promote innate regenerative responses in resident cardiac stem cells, supporting tissue repair and functional improvement rather than direct differentiation into new cardiomyocytes. Clinical development includes Phase I/II trials evaluating safety and efficacy in patients with heart failure[1][6][8].
