Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cardiostatil is a multi-ingredient dietary supplement developed by the Polish pharmaceutical company Aflofarm, designed to support cardiovascular health and maintain healthy blood cholesterol levels. The formulation contains 2.75 mg of monacolin K, a naturally occurring statin-like compound derived from fermented red rice (*Monascus purpureus*), which acts as an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. Additional active components include bergamot fruit extract (*Citrus bergamia*) standardized to polyphenols, garlic extract, coenzyme Q10, and vitamins B6 and B12. The product was specifically reformulated to contain less than 3 mg of monacolin K per daily portion to comply with European Union Commission Regulation 2022/860, which restricts higher dosages of monacolin K in supplements due to safety concerns.
