Overview

Cardiozen is a branded oral dietary supplement composed of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), primarily omega-3 fatty acids such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). It has been evaluated in a Phase 4 clinical trial (NCT00419822) sponsored by the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust to assess its efficacy in reducing the burden of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in patients with dual-chamber pacemakers. The therapeutic effect is attributed to the modulation of cardiac ion channels, including voltage-gated sodium and calcium channels, which helps stabilize the cardiac membrane and prevent electrical remodeling. Additionally, Cardiozen may exert anti-inflammatory effects that mitigate structural remodeling of the atria.
