CARG-201 is a first-in-class nanoparticle-based prophylactic vaccine developed by CaroGen Corporation, in collaboration with Yale University School of Medicine, for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It is designed to generate multiple HBV antigens and stimulate broad immune responses by boosting both T cell and antibody-mediated immunity against HBV. The drug works through the co-expression of two HBV antigens, aiming to induce potent HBV-specific immune responses that could potentially eradicate viral antigens without requiring lifelong antiviral therapy. The underlying technology platform, AVIDIO (artificial virus for infectious diseases and immuno-oncology), was discovered at Yale University and exclusively licensed to CaroGen[1][2][4][5][6].
