Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Cargocytes** are an investigational enucleated mesenchymal stem cell derived drug delivery platform developed by Cytonus Therapeutics. The product consists of mesenchymal stem cells whose nuclei are removed to create short lived, cell based biologic carriers that retain membrane markers, chemotaxis, tissue homing, and secretory function while avoiding persistent engraftment. Cargocytes can be engineered with chemokine receptors such as CXCR4 and CCR2 and adhesion molecules such as PSGL-1 to enhance trafficking into diseased tissue, where they function as local therapeutic factories delivering payloads including cytokines, mRNA, small molecules, antibodies, gene editing cargo, and oncolytic viruses. The platform is being explored across oncology and inflammatory indications including triple negative breast cancer, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, glioblastoma, metastatic solid tumors, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, infectious diseases, and cognitive disorders.
