Cariban

Cariban is a modified-release fixed-dose combination medication developed by Effik for the symptomatic treatment of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy (NVP) in adults. It contains two active ingredients: doxylamine succinate (10 mg) and pyridoxine hydrochloride (10 mg, also known as Vitamin B6). Doxylamine succinate is a first-generation antihistamine that provides antiemetic effects through its competitive antagonism of H1 receptors and its anticholinergic properties. Pyridoxine hydrochloride is a metabolic cofactor that has been shown to reduce the severity of nausea in pregnancy. The drug is formulated as modified-release hard capsules, allowing for flexible dosing (up to 4 capsules daily) to provide prolonged relief from symptoms. It is considered a first-line pharmacological treatment option for NVP in various clinical guidelines.
