Overview

Carliprazine (KH110) is a novel small-molecule antipsychotic developed by Chengdu Kanghong Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of schizophrenia. It acts as a partial agonist at the dopamine D3 and D2 receptors, with a notably high affinity for the D3 subtype, and also functions as a partial agonist at the serotonin 5-HT1A receptor. This pharmacological profile is intended to manage the positive, negative, and cognitive symptoms of schizophrenia while potentially minimizing side effects such as weight gain and extrapyramidal symptoms. The drug is currently in Phase 3 clinical development in China, where it is being evaluated in a non-inferiority study compared to aripiprazole in patients with acute schizophrenia.
