carmethizole

Carmethizole hydrochloride, also known by its code name NSC 602,668, is a novel antitumor small molecule drug. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its broad activity against various murine tumors and human tumor xenografts, including MX-1 mammary carcinoma, NCI-H82 small-cell lung carcinoma, and LOX amelanotic melanoma. It has shown effectiveness against established disease and its therapeutic effect is not dependent on the route of administration (intraperitoneal or intravenous). While it does not exhibit cross-resistance with vincristine, amsacrine, or methotrexate, cross-resistance was observed with doxorubicin, melphalan, cisplatin, 1-beta-D-arabinofuranosylcytosine, and 5-fluorouracil, suggesting potential implications for patient selection in future clinical trials.
