Overview
Carmint is an herbal medicinal product developed by the Iranian company POUR SINA for the management of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It is a liquid formulation (drops) composed of standardized extracts from three plants: *Melissa officinalis* (lemon balm), *Mentha spicata* (spearmint), and *Coriandrum sativum* (coriander). The drug functions through a triple action of antispasmodic, carminative, and sedative effects, which collectively help to reduce abdominal pain, bloating, and gastrointestinal discomfort. A notable clinical trial published in *Digestive Diseases and Sciences* (2006) demonstrated its efficacy as an adjunct therapy to loperamide or psyllium, showing a significant reduction in the severity and frequency of IBS symptoms compared to placebo. It is also distributed in certain markets by Sofar Farmaceutici.
