Overview

A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of carmustine (BCNU) and cyclophosphamide. Both are alkylating agents with complementary mechanisms of action. Carmustine works by alkylating DNA and RNA and inhibiting enzymatic processes through carbamoylation of amino acids in proteins. Cyclophosphamide works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells. This combination is primarily used in high-dose conditioning regimens before autologous stem cell transplantation for lymphomas and other malignancies.
