Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Carnaculin + V-Omin is a combination therapy developed by AJU Pharm Co., Ltd. for the treatment of non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR). Carnaculin contains kallidinogenase (pancreatic kininogenase), a proteolytic enzyme that cleaves kininogen to produce kinins, which promote vasodilation and improve retinal microcirculation. V-Omin is a vitamin B complex featuring benfotiamine, a lipid-soluble thiamine derivative that activates the enzyme transketolase. This activation helps divert excess glucose metabolites into the pentose phosphate pathway, thereby inhibiting the formation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) and reducing oxidative stress associated with diabetic microvascular damage. The combination is evaluated for its ability to reduce hard exudates and stabilize retinal health in NPDR patients.
