Carob honey loaded chitosan nanoparticles (CHCNP) are a nanoformulation created by embedding carob honey into chitosan nanoparticles using the ionic gelation method. This formulation is designed to enhance the antimicrobial and anticancer properties of both components. The resulting nanoparticles are small (approximately 101 nm), stable, and monodispersed. In vitro studies have demonstrated that CHCNP exhibits significant antibacterial activity against pathogens such as Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli, as well as antifungal effects against Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus. Additionally, CHCNP shows notable cytotoxicity against the MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell line with an IC50 in the range of 18–25 μg/mL over 24–72 hours. These findings suggest potential applications for CHCNP in treating microbial infections and breast cancer; however, further research is needed to establish safety profiles, optimal dosing, in vivo efficacy, and detailed mechanisms of action[1].
