Overview

Carpatamides are a group of cytotoxic acylated arylamine derivatives (specifically, carpatamides A–C) isolated from a marine-derived Streptomyces species. These natural products feature a novel amide structure with an amino-phenylpropionic acid core and an unsaturated fatty acid chain. Carpatamides A and C have demonstrated moderate cytotoxicity against non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines, with IC50 values ranging from 2.2 to 8.4 μM[1][2][6]. Their mechanism of action is not fully elucidated but they are notable for their unique chemical scaffold among marine natural products.
