Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Titanoreine is a topical anti-hemorrhoidal medication used for the symptomatic treatment of pain, pruritus, and congestive sensations associated with hemorrhoids and other anal disorders, such as anal fissures. The formulation typically consists of carrageenan, titanium dioxide, and zinc oxide. Carrageenan is a mucilaginous polysaccharide that acts as a mechanical lubricant and forms a protective film over the anal mucosa, shielding it from irritation and facilitating the passage of stools. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide serve as mineral protectants and mild astringents, helping to soothe inflamed tissue and provide a physical barrier against external irritants. It is commonly available in cream and suppository forms for local application and is widely used as an over-the-counter treatment in European markets.
