CART117 refers to an investigational CAR-T cell therapy targeting the CD117 antigen (also known as c-Kit), designed to eradicate both malignant and healthy hematopoietic stem cells as a preparative regimen before allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Unlike traditional chemotherapeutic or antibody-based conditioning regimens, CART117 aims to specifically deplete the cellular compartment harboring acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and potentially other CD117-expressing malignancies, enabling engraftment of donor cells. Preclinical models demonstrate that anti-CD117 CAR-T cells can effectively target these cell populations and that incorporating safety switches can increase the control over adverse effects and facilitate safer application of this highly targeted immunotherapy[7].
