Overview

CART2219.1 is an autologous dual-targeting chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by KK Women's and Children's Hospital. It is engineered to express CARs that simultaneously target two distinct B-cell antigens, CD19 and CD22. This dual-targeting strategy is designed to enhance therapeutic efficacy and mitigate the risk of leukemia relapse caused by antigen loss or "escape," which is a common resistance mechanism in single-target CAR-T therapies. CART2219.1 is currently being evaluated in clinical trials as a salvage treatment for pediatric and adult patients with relapsed or refractory B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), potentially offering an alternative to intensive treatments like hematopoietic stem cell transplantation or total body irradiation.
