Overview

CARTHEDRALL is an autologous CD19-directed CAR-T cell therapy developed by Nutera RP (Núcleo de Terapia Avançada) at the Hemocentro de Ribeirão Preto in partnership with the University of São Paulo (USP) and Instituto Butantan. The therapy consists of genetically modified T lymphocytes engineered to recognize and target CD19, a protein present on B cells, enabling T-cell-mediated killing of CD19-positive malignant B cells. It is being developed to treat patients with refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-cell ALL) and B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma who have not responded to or relapsed after conventional treatments including chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation. The CARTHEDRALL clinical study is currently in Phase 2 and represents the first CAR-T treatment developed in Latin America, with the goal of making the therapy available through Brazil's public health system (SUS).
