Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cartitone (also marketed as Carti-Tone) is an oral fixed-dose combination tablet developed and manufactured by Anglo-French Drugs & Industries for the management of osteoarthritis and joint pain. The formulation contains three active ingredients: diacerein (50 mg), glucosamine (750 mg), and methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) (250 mg). Diacerein acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by inhibiting interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) production and signaling, which prevents cartilage degradation. Glucosamine serves as a precursor for glycosaminoglycan and proteoglycan synthesis, supporting cartilage repair and reducing inflammatory cytokine expression. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) provides organic sulfur to support joint tissue structure and exerts anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects by modulating NF-κB and NLRP3 inflammasome pathways. Together, these components work synergistically to reduce joint friction, alleviate pain and swelling, and improve physical mobility in patients with degenerative joint diseases.
