Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Carya laciniosa pollen is an allergenic extract derived from the shellbark hickory tree, primarily utilized for the diagnosis and treatment of hickory pollen allergies. As a biologic product, it serves as a diagnostic tool in percutaneous or intradermal skin testing to identify hypersensitivity. Furthermore, it is employed in subcutaneous immunotherapy (allergy shots) to induce immunological tolerance in sensitized individuals. The extract contains the naturally occurring proteins and allergens found in the pollen of the Carya laciniosa species and is frequently used either as a standalone agent or as a component of standardized hickory pollen mixtures.
